This is a recording facility aimed at providing a service for musicians wanting to produce high quality demos of their performances. The keyword is "tradition". the multitrack recording is done on 24 track 2 inch analogue magnetic tape, and all signal processing is hardware based.
The studio has been put together with the intent that The Music comes first and foremost, and that the technology exists to serve The Music. There are digital studios aplenty with facilities like quantisation and pitch correction, but by their own admission, those engineers spend a great deal of their time (and their client's money) trying to make them sound better than they really are. Some awesome recordings were made before these tools were available, and so it still is today. With the combined talents of good musicians and good engineering, a first class recording can be made, with all the "warmth" associated with analogue multitrack recording.
The studio has 3 live music recording rooms. Room 1 will comfortably take 3 or 4 acoustic musicians, and is also useful as a vocal overdub room, or isolation booth for loud electric instruments. Room two is slightly larger, and will handle the same sort of demands, as well as being very suitable for a large live drum kit. The last live room is equipped with two acoustic pianos and one electric piano. Several electronic keyboards are also available should they be needed.
The control room houses the 24 track master recorder, a 48 input main mix console, 16 input record mixer, signal processors, digital effects systems, compressors/limiters/gates, and Roland CD-2 for stereo mixdown. Roger Jeffery has accumulated a wealth of experience in the recording field, having worked for many years in the music industry in the West End of London in the heady days of the 70's. If you have music that you wish to record, Roger has put together a facility and an environment dedicated to getting the best out of your performance.
